I want to konw if there are some simple hikings to do on the glaciers of Jotunheimen park and the prices of the hikings and how i can book for one of these hikings. We'll arrive near the Jotunheimen park in August. Thanks for all replies. Siter
Tom Skrevet 13. juli 2005 Skrevet 13. juli 2005 The most popular and spectacular hiking on glacier in Jotunheimen (guided) is the one on Svellnosbreen/Eventyrisen. The startpoint is the mountain hotel Spiterstulen (www.spiterstulen.no), and the trips are daily. Spiterstulen can be reached by car from the road called Rv. 55. As far as I know, you just sign up the day before. To be sure, call the reseption - They can give you information regarding sign-up, prices etc. Another option is a trip to the blue ice on Smørstabbreen from Krossbu, situated close to road 55 (http://www.krossbu.no/serv03.htm). The link states that trips on the glacier is arranged on a regular basis in summertime. I suppose they mean daily. The trip is 5-6 hours, and they describe it as "an unforgettable and exciting experience". These are the two options I will recommend. I don't think theres any other good ones in Jotunheimen, even though there's guiding on a couple of other glaciers as well (but only as a "passing-service", not focused on the glacier-experience itself). Welcome to Norway, and I hope you will enjoy your stay. Siter
morten Skrevet 19. juli 2005 Skrevet 19. juli 2005 Tom has pretty much mentioned the guided glacier options in Jotunheimen. At least the nice ones. If you're primarely interested in glacier I suggest you head for the Jostedalsbreen area. This is the greatest glacierarea of southern norway and many of the icefalls offer guided tours. Try www.bfl.no or www.bre.no or www.oldenaktiv.no Siter
