Svar i fra Dan @Lars L Hi Dan, Someone has a dream to sleep extremely comfortable in the tent. Hence we are talking about Exped 7/9 LW mat…. However, based on this drawing, I would say it is a close race when it comes to hitting the inner tent with the mat. Is it your impression that the mat will be so close to the inner tent ? dandurston 1394 Dan Durston 8H Wow you are really putting in an impressive effort with a 3D model! Is the question whether a 197 x 65 x 9 cm pad will fit? Your 3D model looks right. Indeed it is a "close race". A pad of that size will fill pretty much all of the floor width and extend to near two of the corners. Three things to note at these corners are: 1) Most pads, including the Expeds, are a bit rounded at the corners. 2) The end walls of the X-Mid are the steepest at the two corners where the pad comes the closest, so the inward slope here is very little. 3) With the little bit of extra floor width (71cm vs 65cm), you can rotate the pad slightly to move it a little bit out of those corners. So I think that pad would fit with a few cms to spare but there is a possibility that it will brush the walls lightly at those corners. I'm confident that the pad won't push substantially on the walls, but it won't have much extra room either. So it depends on how much space you want.

svar i fra Dan: Hi Dan, We do have some discussions with respect to how long a person really can sleep comfortable in the tent, IE not touching the inner tent with the sleeping bag. Given that you have good sleeping map, we estimate you need a 40 cm vertical high on both ends from the inner tent to the floor. Based on this requirement some calculates that a person can not be taller than 175 cm. Is this correct ? thumb_up0replyREPLY share bookmark_borderSAVE more_vert dandurston 1370 Dan Durston 16M This is a difficult thing to answer partly because the shape of the tent is complex, and partly because it requires a number of assumptions about the sleeper (e.g how thick the sleeping bag is, are the corners of the bag rounded etc). Anecdotally, I'm 180cm and I sleep in this all the time on a 2.5" pad with a 3 season sleeping quilt and don't touch the ends. But if I hauled out my -25 C winter sleeping bag that is way larger with a big hood then I might brush the ends, but I would still fit fine in the sense that I could still fully stretch out wouldn't be pushing the mesh into the potentially wet walls. My subjective opinion is that someone up to 185cm fits nicely into the tent, and it works okay to 190cm (particularly if they use a quilt and not a bag) and then beyond that is too tall unless they are a side sleeper than doesn't sleep fully stretched out. More quantitatively, this tent is 220cm long and the end walls are quite steep, so it preserves a large portion of that length at 40cm off the ground (about 180cm). If you compare that to other trekking pole tents, most are a similar length or a bit shorter at the ground, as 210-225cm is typical, and then certainly most are shorter 40cm off the ground due to more inward slope on the end walls. So it's not a tent for very tall people but I think it is above average in length and works for hikers up to 185-190cm. For comparison, TarpTent is saying their Aeon tent can accommodate hikers up to 213cm (7 feet) with a floor that is 223cm long. So they are claiming a max height that is 10cm less than the length of the floor (213 vs 223cm) while I am claiming a max height that is 30cm less than the length of the floor (190cm vs 220cm). Of course the slopes of the end walls differ but they appear to be the same ballpark. I think their claim is quite optimistic - and reviews have said as much by suggesting a 15cm shorter max height of 198cm. I think that shows that my 190cm max claim is pretty fair considering my tent is only 3cm shorter. (Edited) thumb_up0replyREPLY share bookmark_borderSAVE more_vert Other Drops

Med forvarming menes at flammene kommer ut av de små hullene på siden. Før det skje brenner det bare i det store hullet der du heller i fuel. Ergo må du vente til flammene kommer ut på siden før du kan sette kjelen rett på brenneren.

Samme spørsmål er stilt før: Looks like a copy of the Sierra Designs High Route 1FL tent, only slightly lighter. https://sierradesigns.com/high-route-1-fl/ thumb_up2replyREPLY share bookmark_borderSAVE more_vert dandurston 1355 Dan Durston 38W prendrefeu Hi Prendrefeu, Please take a closer look at these shelters, as they are very different. The X-Mid uses the unique idea of having the inner positioned at a diagonal inside the rectangular fly. This is a unique idea that changes almost everything else about the shelter and has huge benefits. Having the inner on a diagonal is an enormous improvement. It enables the poles/peaks to be moved inwards from the edges of the fly, eliminating the vertical walls which catch wind and require guylines. It's simpler to pitch, more storm worthy, more spacious, lighter and no guylines to trip over. You can set the X-Mid up with just four stakes. So yeah the High Route and X-Mid both have a diagonal ridgeline, but many tents have this (TarpTents, Yama etc). The X-Mid is the only tent with the unique combo of a rectangle base, diagonal ridgeline and opposite diagonal inner. It's only when you have all three of these elements that you get a tent with this much space and simplicity. Compared to the High Route 1, the X-Mid offers much larger vestibules, more storm worthy with no vertical walls, requires only 4 stakes (vs 6) and no guylines, uses no sag polyester - and notably, is far lighter (28 vs 37oz). Simpler, larger, lighter and more functional - and much lower price.

Nå har droppen åpnet på Dan D teltet: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-dan-durston-x-mid-1p-tent 150 av de 300 er allerede kjøpt i løpet av 2 timer. 2P versjonen kommer om ca. 2 mnd og DCF senere. ref 2P: Shipping to the UK is $5. The 2P is coming along well. The design is seemingly ready and it is out for testing with a variety of testers to ensure we haven't missing any problems or potential improvements. I expect a launch in about 2 months. The 1P DCF is coming along well. We have some really nice prototypes. Definitely aiming to have it delivered in time for next summer.

Tja,, ville ha gått for Dan teltet jeg da: Fra diskusjonstråden: Lanshan 1 vs X-Mid The Lanshan 1 is basically a double wall version of the SMD Lunar Solo which I've already compared the X-Mid to, so many topics in that comparison are relevant here, such as how the single pole structure impacts wall slopes and living space. One key difference between the Lunar Solo and Lanshan 1 though is that the Lanshan 1 is quite a bit smaller. Here are these three tents to scale: The Lanshan 1 is actually quite a small tent. The floor length is spec'd at 82.5" (versus 87" for the X-Mid) and even that doesn't really show the difference in useable length because the Lanshan has a lot more inward slope on the end walls vs the X-Mid. So it is 4.5" shorter at the ground level but likely closer to 8-10" shorter a foot off the ground where the top of your head would be. I say the X-Mid works for folks up to about 6'4, so the Lanshan 1 looks suited for folks up to about 5'8". Overall in terms of space it's really not much of a comparison. The Lanshan 1 is much shorter, has less than half the vestibule area, and is not in the same ball park for headroom because it has a single peak while the X-Mid has dual peaks spaced well apart. So you can sit up anywhere in the X-Mid, but just right at the pole in the Lanshan 1. Other advantages to the X-Mid include: Two doors (vs one) Two vestibules (vs one) Two vents (vs one) Vent is adjustable Pole doesn't block door Larger doorway (easier access) No sag fabric Better snow shedding (steeper walls) High end zips (vs basic zips + flap that tends to snag) Stronger fabric (20D vs 15D) Full coverage fly can extend right to ground Higher end materials and hardware Higher quality construction (presumably) Simper 4 stake pitch. Conversely advantages to the Lanshan are hard to come by, other than it's very low price. You could argue its shape is better in the wind. Indeed it does have less wind drag since it's a tiny tent and doesn't have much headroom, but the X-Mid supports it's greater profile with dual peak guylines and a dual pole structure that spread the load. So I would argue wind performance is likely similarly good in both tents. I think it's pretty amazing that the X-Mid weighs the same (and actually less when you factor in that it needs less stakes) while being a lot more spacious and well featured (e.g. 2 doors), plus using tougher fabric (20D vs 15D , where 20D poly is stronger than 15D nylon since nylon has about a 15% strength advantage). That's really enabled by the more efficient geometry of the X-Mid. Single pole mid shapes just aren't very efficient designs because they use a lot of fabric for the volume (I wrote a posthere that explains why the X-Mid has more volume than a single pole mid despite using less fabric). Plus the Lanshan 1 uses an offset pole location that is less efficient still (see my article) and it's a six sided shape which adds even more seams and stakes. So the Lanshan ties up a lot of weight in fabric, seam and stakes for its size. Efficient design is something that few companies are thinking about it, but it's a much better way to save weight that making a tent tiny or stripping away important features. Lanshan 2 vs X-Mid The Lanshan 2 is obviously a 2 person tent, so it's quite a bit larger and heavier than the X-Mid. Actually the X-Mid has a pretty comparable amount of headroom because both tent have dual peaks. The Lanshan 2 peaks are slightly higher (47 vs 46") but also closer together (43" vs 50") so there is likely at least as much headroom in the X-Mid as the Lanshan 2. That would feel a bit tight for two in the Lanshan 2, but quite generous for 1 in the X-Mid. The Lanshan 2 is quite a small 2P tent. The floor is only 43" wide which is about as small as it gets for a 2P tent. The length is also quite short like the Lanshan 1 at only 82.6". Considering it has a lot of inward wall slope at well, it's certainly not a tent for tall people. I'm actually at a bit of a loss to explain why the Lanshan 2 is so heavy. Consider that the X-Mid 2P when it arrives will be much wider (43" vs 50"), much longer (~92" vs 82.6") and have a lot more headroom with the X-Mid layout - so it is a much larger tent - and yet it will weigh quite a bit less (roughly 36oz vs 40oz). Dual pole hexagon designs like the Lanshan 2 are more efficient than the Lanshan 1, but still only average, whereas the X-Mid is the most efficient geometry that I'm aware of, as I've explained here. So you can expect when the X-Mid 2P arrives that it will be lighter, more spacious, more fully featured and simpler to use, in addition to advantages unrelated to the geometry such as the use of non-saggy fabric, higher end materials and highware, adjustable vent designs etc.
